Biography

 

Alper Murat is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Management of McGill University. His doctoral thesis examines alternative modeling and solution techniques for the Supply Chain Networks involving large scale deterministic and stochastic demand data set. He also works on the supplier selection/allocation and outsourcing contract design under market demand and price uncertainty.


He received his B.Sc. degree in the Mechanical Engineering department of the Bogazici University in Istanbul(1998), and holds a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the Bogazici University in Istanbul(2000). He has also completed a minor program in Financial Engineering during his graduate program at Bogazici University where he has submitted the first national thesis on the Path Dependent Derivative Pricing for the ISE traded stocks.


He is a member of the Centre de recherche sur les transports(CRT), INFORMS, CORS and Decision Sciences Institute. He has refereed articles in several journals such as European Journal of Operational Research and Naval Research Logistics. He has also presented his research in several academic conferences such as INFORMS (Atlanta 2003), CORS/INFORMS Banff 2004, JOPT(2004). Alper was also a doctoral colloquium participant at the annual Council of Logistics Management meeting in San Francisco(2002).

 

Alper has taught undergraduate Operations Management course at McGill and conducted multi-session tutorial classes on Data Mining, Process Design using Process Model and Simulation in MBA level courses. He is an active member of Toastmaster organization in Montreal and regularly gives speeches.
